Hello guest
Your basket is empty
With planning, and by following a few simple rules it is easy to achieve long-term cooling with a passive Coolbox.
One of the greatest pleasures in life is pulling a pre-chilled drink from a cool box, sitting back in your chair of choice in the big outdoors to simply watch the world go by. Sharing this moment with friends and /or loved ones all feeding from the same Cool box is a real pleasure. Add a BBQ into the mix with the smoke from fire entwined with the smell of the cooking food and quite simply life doesn’t get much better. With Spring and Summer on the way we have put together some simple tips on how to get the absolute best from your Cool Box.

With planning, and by following a few simple rules it is easy to achieve long term cooling with a passive Coolbox :

Cool the Cooler
If you use a warm cooler to store cold food, then the stored goods will have the cold energy sucked from them as the cooler tries to get cool. You cannot fight the laws of physics. A simple tip is to rinse the cool box with cold water or even fill the box with a little water and add a small amount of ice prior to use. Empty the water and ice out prior to packing the box.

Chill the Contents
Make sure the goods going into the cool box are as cold as possible. Always store cold or frozen goods in the box. This will increase the cold ‘lifespan’ within the box. Maybe think about what you are storing, can some of the product be frozen? If so this will act as an additional ice pack and will increase the chilling time of the box.

Storage
It goes without saying that the cool box should be stored out of direct sunlight as much as possible. By keeping the cool box in the shade ,the heat from the sun cannot permutate through the insulation and effect the cooling. Obviously there are times where this simply isn’t possible but every little helps.

Keep it Shut
As soon as a cool box is opened the cold air escapes. The Cool Box, by using the forces of nature then takes the cold from the goods to keep the air temperature chilled. Reduce the amount of time the Cool Box is open and this will increase the efficiency of the cooler.

Pack it
Air is the enemy of a cool box, the more goods in a box the better. We mentioned earlier about planning ahead and using frozen goods if possible. If you are keeping the cool box for a weekend trip then pack frozen sausages or semi skimmed milk, this not only increases the ice mass but means the food lasts longer also. If this isn’t possible keep the Cool Box working efficiently by filling the space with ice packs. These can be home made by freezing bottles of water or even water bomb balloons!! Remember the larger the volume of ice, the longer it takes to melt, so go big.
